What Actually Decides Whether a Patio Lasts
The visible paver is only the top layer. Excavation depth, subgrade condition, separation fabric where appropriate, compacted aggregate lifts, bedding depth, drainage, joint material, and mechanically secured edge restraint determine how the installation behaves.
A premium paver on a weak base can move. A correctly selected paver on a properly prepared base has a much better chance of staying level. When comparing estimates, ask for the excavation and base specification in writing.
